Δροσερή μνήμη/ Mémoire fraîche

Εγκατάσταση σε φωτεινό κουτί διαστάσεων 50Χ36X 98cm, φωτιστική πηγή led, οθόνη PVC, σκοινάκι, ανεμιστήρας, κεντημένη ποδιά, 2015

Μια χαμένη σήμερα μυκονιάτικη φορεσιά διασώθηκε χάρη στις γκραβούρες του γάλλου βοτανολόγου Joseph Pitton de Tournefort. Το έργο μου έχει ως αφετηρία το σχέδιό του και ειδικά το σχέδιο για την ποδιά της ενδυμασίας. Η ποδιά, έτσι ανάλαφρη μέσα στην αθωότητά της, λειτουργεί σαν μια γέφυρα ανάμεσα στο παρελθόν και στο παρόν, στο χθες και στο σήμερα, στις παλιές και στις νέες αξίες. Έχοντας ως υλικά το φως, τον αέρα και ένα κομμάτι ύφασμα στο οποίο μεταφέρθηκαν και έγιναν διάτρητα τα διακοσμητικά στοιχεία της ποδιάς, προσδοκώ να ζωντανέψω μια εικόνα-ανάμνηση μιας απλωμένης σε ένα σκοινάκι ποδιάς που την κινεί απαλά ο αέρας.

Tο έργο Δροσερή Μνήμη/ Mémoire fraîche παρουσιάστηκε στην ομαδική έκθεση «Γυναικεία μυκονιάτικη Ενδυμασία: Μια σπουδή στον Αιγαιακό υλικό πολιτισμό», Ίδρυμα Άγγελου & Λητώς Κατακουζηνού, Αθήνα και Οικία Βενιέρη-Κορνηλάκη, Μύκονος, 2015.

Fresh Memory/ Mémoire fraîche

A now lost traditional dress from Mykonos was saved thanks to the engravings of French botanist Joseph Pitton de Tournefort. My work is inspired by his drawing, especially that of the dress’ apron. The apron, so light in its innocence, acts as a bridge between the past and the present, yesterday and today, old and new values. Using light, air and a piece of fabric onto which I transferred and perforated the decorative elements of the apron, I seek to enliven an image-memory of an apron on a clothes line, being set in motion softly by the wind.

Fresh Memory/ Mémoire fraîche was presented in the group exhibition entitled “ Women’s of Mykonos Clothes: A study in Aegean Civilization”, Katakouzenos House Museum, Athens and House of Venieri-Kornilaki, Mykonos, 2015.
